Curriculum Overview
The Credit Unit System
The University adopts a flexible credit unit system for all undergraduate programmes with the exception of the Medical and Nursing Programmes. Students must complete at least 99 units of courses before graduation.
Major Programme
To ensure adequate training in the major programme, full-time students are required to complete the minimum number of course units required by the major programme. This can be up to 72 units, except for programmes leading to professional qualifications as approved by the Senate. They are also required to pass any graduate thesis/project as prescribed by the major programme.
Double Major
Subject to the approval of first and second major programmes, students having attained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in all the courses taken may declare a second major at the start of his last term of attendance.
Minor Programme & Elective Courses
To ensure the flexibility of the curriculum structure, students can opt for either minor programmes or elective courses. Students, for instance, can choose to take up to two minor programmes according to their interests and orientation, or they can take elective courses both within or outside their major fields of study. A student's minor programme should add up to a minimum of 15 units or a maximum of 30 units of courses.
