Curriculum Overview
Our Faculty of Humanities Departments has courses drawn from three basic areas: Cultural and Art Studies; Environmental and Social Studies; Social and Media Studies.
Our Faculty of Art is comprised of three departments: Fine Arts, Material Expression, and Media Arts, offering seven major courses: Oil Painting, Japanese Painting (Nihonga), Sculpture, Ceramics, Textiles, Printmaking, and Video & Media Arts.
Our new Faculty of Design, opened in April 2006, teaches Product Communication Design, Architecture, Graphic Design, Digital Creation, Illustration and Interior Product Design.
The Faculty of Manga (the world's first) teaches Cartoon Art, Comic Art (Story Manga), Manga Production and Animation. Is also affiliated with our new International Manga Museum, a major display and research center located downtown. The departments are very popular, and very competitive to enter. A high level of spoken, read and written Japanese is absolutely essential.

Kyoto is a safe environment - you can wander around, and get lost, without any concerns re personal security.
Special Services
Overseas students tuition fees are approximately half the amount paid by Japanese students. This reflects KSU's commitment to internationalization, especially in regard to other Asian countries.

No financial aid to first-year students.
Housing
Men's and women's separate dorms close by campus: cheap, Ethernet access and shared kitchens. Available to overseas students in their first year only.
