Description
HTC is an evangelical and reformed theological college set in the beautiful highlands of Scotland. We have students and staff from a range of different churches and denominations. We are a constituent academic partner of the UHI Millennium Institute, an exciting federal partnership of fifteen colleges working to create the University of the Highlands and Islands. We are a small college with a good staff-student ratio and a reputation both for academic excellence and friendly student-centred learning. We are in a small town of 5,000 people and there are no problems in finding suitable accommodation at a very reasonable price. Leave the cities - come to the place of mountains and lochs and find peace to think and learn!
Curriculum Overview
We offer a Bachelor of Arts in Theological Studies. The main elements of any theological degree are taught: Old Testament, New Testament, Church History, Systematic Theology, Pastoral Theology and the biblical languages - Hebrew and Greek (these are not compulsory). The degree can be obtained in three years or can be obtained with honours in four years. The honours year offers the opportunity for more sustained and detailed study, often in one area of the curriculum. A project in the third year and a dissertation in the fourth year allows the student to spend time on a particular area of interest.
Student Life
We are a small but lively community of staff and students. Current students enjoy a range of personal and leisure activities, including use of the local sports centre and swimming pool. There are good churches in the area and plenty of opportunities for Christian involvement. Those who like to travel will find that the Highlands and Islands offer some of the most spectacular scenery in Europe and some of the friendliest people. There are excellent travel links (road, rail, ferry, train, plane)and the whole of Scotland is accessible within a few hours of setting out from Dingwall.
Special Services
We will help students to find accommodation, arrange to collect them at the airport (Inverness) or the bus and railway stations, and help to arrange immigration papers as required.
