Switzerland has been reputed for its international education for more than 100 years. The country is also known for its banking, watch making industry, fine chocolate and cheeses as well as its unmatched scenery. Since Switzerland has no natural
resources, education and knowledge
have become very important resources.
Therefore, Switzerland claims to have one of the world's best educational
systems. It includes the following educational
levels or types of schools: pre-school level,
primary level, lower secondary level,
upper secondary level (vocational
education, intermediate diploma schools,
and Matura schools), tertiary
level (higher professional education, universities of
applied sciences, universities, and the Federal Institutes of Technology), special education,
and continuing education.
Switzerland also has numerous private institutions, some of which have acquired a worldwide repute and which welcomes every year students from all around the world. CIS currently works with two of these universities.
