Student Life

The Dagbe Cultural institute is located in the picturesque village of Kopeyia in the Ewe -Speaking region of West Africa. The Dagbe institute is a facility for the study of West Africa's vibrant art forms and culture in a typical village with a natural setting.

Special Services

ACCOMMODATION
Participants are housed in a hotel while in Accra for the Programme orientation and city tours. Dagbe Cultural Institute and Arts Centre provides dormitory style housing at the Institute in the Village. The dormitory housing has no running water or electricity. All housing cost are included in the cost of the programme.

VISA
Visas are required for Ghana. You will need to apply for your own visa. CATO staff will provide information on consulates and application forms.

VACCINATIONS
Yellow Fewer vaccination is required to obtain Ghanaian visa. We recommend you consider vaccinations for Hepatitis A & , Meningitis, Typhoid, Tetanus and anti-malaria medication.

DRUMS
Students will need djembe and kpalongo (traditional Ghanaian drum) drums for classes. We are not able to provide drums for classes, but we have arrangement with a local drum maker to deliver both drums at the cost of US$120. You are not obliged to purchase your drums this way, but you must have drums for commencement of classes.
