AustraLearn is the North American representative for 29 major universities in Australia and New Zealand. In Townsville, James Cook University offers students excellent degree options in almost any field of study.
AustraLearn assists students with finding the right university and program, provides applications and prospectuses for the universities, and provides a wide range of services to make sure students actually get there. These services include assistance with enrollment details, the student visa, financial aid, accommodation, airline tickets, and general country information.
Curriculum Overview
As a high-ranking research university, JCU provides excellent facilities, highly qualified and dedicated teaching staff, and quality degrees. JCU has an international reputation for expertise in matters relating to the tropics in marine biology, environmental studies, tropical health, tourism and agriculture, to name just a few. Specialist research facilities include island and rainforest field stations, research vessels, satellite technology, biomedical laboratories and historical collections. Such research capabilities offer undergraduate students unique opportunities for field trips, industry links, experience at research stations and access to what would be postgraduate-only facilities at many other universities.
Student Life
Cairns and Townsville are attractive coastal cities with populations of around 150,000, both within easy reach of the Great Barrier Reef. Both cities enjoy excellent tropical climates with most of the academic year following autumn, winter and spring, and average winter temperatures of around 78 degrees Fahrenheit.
Townsville
Set in almost 400 hectares of natural bushland by the Ross River and Mt. Stuart, the campus is home to close to 11,000 students in a safe, friendly environment just 8 miles from the beach and downtown area. Local transport is by bus or bicycle.

Financial Aid
James Cook University is Title IV certified and thus can accept federal aid from the U.S. Government. You can utilize Stafford Loans, Parent PLUS Loans, and private education loans for your degree abroad.
Housing
Prearranged accommodation is available. It is also possible to find an apartment upon arrival with assistance from the housing office at the university.
